You deserve someone that loves you. The definition of love being an act that is pure, kind, and selfless. You deserve someone that will hold your hand in public and tell you they love you when their heart swells at the sight of you. You deserve someone who will try their very hardest to be the best person, not because you expect them to, but because you inspire them to be as good as you are to them.
Anything less requires more effort or is not something worth going back to. You do NOT deserve nights full of tears, a loud laugh in the face after declaring your most intimate feelings/thoughts, abuse that is both emotional and psychological. You do not deserve to have the person you love stare you down and tell you that they do not love you, even after they called the night before asking if you were thinking of them. You do not deserve this sort of pain that comes with trying to figure out why they do not love you [enough] or why they never loved you at all.
There is a time and place to let go and it is better to let go after you realize the bitter rejection than to face more torment at the thought of them leaving you forever. Because they will leave. However, you are strong enough to move on. You are strong enough to figure out what makes you passionate and makes you happy without them. You can live life without having your love for them consume you. You can go on a train ride and make new friends and not think once about him/her. It takes time. No heartbreak is ever easy to forget or walk away from, but it is possible. It is possible to go to sleep at night without a care in the world and wake up the next morning and know that everything will be good. Life will be good to you. With effort, so will love. You’ll smile at a cute stranger and perhaps exchange a few words and not feel a heavy guilt burdening you. You will be able to say, ‘’I like that person over there.’’ and not have an instant flashback to your previous relationship. You will go out into the world and let it envelop you with all the wonderful people, beautiful sights, and passionate culture it has to offer. You will be able to get lost in yourself and realize you are whole without them.
You deserve that kind of life.
